Tears for my darling

Following the Murray–Darling river system through regional Australia, this series documents the small towns and landscapes that exist along its path.

There is a quiet sadness to many of these places. Empty shopfronts, ageing pubs, faded signs, abandoned buildings and wide, vacant streets suggest towns that once held more life than they do today. The absence of people becomes part of the work, leaving the landscape and built environment to tell their own story.

The series is not intended simply as a document of decline, but as an observation of change and the passing of time. There is a strange beauty in these places — in what remains, what has weathered, and what is slowly disappearing.

Travelling through the Murray–Darling Basin, the work becomes a visual record of a quieter Australia, and of towns that can feel as though they are gradually fading back into the landscape.
