The Martial Way

I’ve done jiujitsu for 11 years, but the thought of actually fighting someone scares me. I remember competing and being pinned to the mat with someone on top and having almost an outer body experience. Staring up at the ceiling lights and listening to the hundreds of spectators yelling, I remember thinking to myself “why am I doing this?” I haven’t conquered the fear to compete again. This essay is documenting those brave martial artists of fight in the arts of Boxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I have complete respect for any person that can step into the ring in the ultimate test of one on one and put their years of blood sweat and tears on the line.
