Eastern Summer

Taking the 24 hour train from Moscow to my wife’s grandmothers hometown of Berdanysk in 2009 I felt like I had gone back in time. I imagined my wife spending 3 months a year here as a child over summertime. Berdyansk, Ukraine is on the northern coast of the Sea of Azov.

Since then her grandmother Lana has unfortunately passed and taking that train ride isn’t even possible with the current political situation. I wish one day to go back and spend another summer here, life is simple and there is a lot we can take away from that living in the West.
